SEO Optimization Top Tips!

I’ve been in the art of SEO for quite a while now, and I’ve had success, when I first started though, I just hit brick wall after brick wall and just decided to create a new website each time I hit these problems. SEO can be a real pain for the first-timer. And it can put you off it for life! But don’t despair, these tips I have outlined below will help you to increase your site’s visibility to search engines and increase that all important Google PageRank!

First you need to decide what keywords you want your site to be related to, this is important and is where most people fall at their first hurdle. You can use good keywords to help you with this, follow the easy steps on the website on how to use and you can find out which keywords would be best to target your site with.

What you need to do now is to include your new keywords into your site! Use H1 tags near the top of the page to emphasize your keywords and to show search engines that these are important. It is also best to place your keywords at the very top and very bottom of your website. Emphasizing texts with bold and italics also goes a long way in SEO, this also tells the search engine that this keyword is important. Wherever you have spare ALT tags for your images, try and place your keywords in there, and also in the body of your website’s content. Be careful though, do not overcrowd your website with your favoured keywords as this will NOT help your search engine rankings at all, try to keep them at a level like 5 instances of your keywords maximum on your page.

Include your main keyword in the TITLE tag of your webpage, for example a website about weight loss, my website title would be “Weigh Loss Tips | Examplesite.com” this is a good idea to do, it shows both search engines and users what your website is about and should hopefully boost your rankings.

When you have figured out your keywords and done the above, you need to start getting backlinks for your sire. Backlinks, these are links from other sites that are linking to yours, effectively telling search engines that other sites like your site and it is important and so it needs to be ranked higher in the search engine results. You can accomplish this by finding websites with a high PR and asking them to link to your site, this is easy if you are polite, and especially if you offer a backlink to them! When someone places a link to your site, ask them to make the anchor text the same as your main keyword, this will further increase your keyword’s importance and boost your rankings.

When you have a high enough page rank and have placed your keywords well throughout your site, you will start to get higher and higher results on search engines and increased traffic

I hope this short little guide has helped people, and if it has I will be sure to post more in-depth article on this subject-matter and others!

Top Google Ranking With Long Tail Keywords

Using popular keywords is the way to go to get a top Google ranking. However, overuse of search terms or over stuffing them can result in your website getting sandboxed by Google. Over reliance on a popular keyword is not a good strategy for a top Google ranking because the penalty could be a year of isolation in a Google sandbox. But if you are already in the sandbox, you can still optimize your site and let customers find you through the use of long tail keywords.

Long tail keywords are less popular with very low competition. You will not get the same volume of clicks as that of a popular keyword. But researchers have found that people who key in long tail keywords on Google’s search bar are more likely to be make a purchase because they care to dig deeper from the surface of popular keywords. So with little competition from long tail keywords, you may still get a top Google ranking for that search term. This approach can significantly help to increase your website traffic from organic search results (SERPS). Using this method has been proven to improve sales, improve lead generation and increase revenue.

Top Google Ranking – What is Algorithm

An intricate arithmetical formula used by search engines to evaluate the significance and importance of websites and rank them accordingly in their search results. These algorithms are kept secret as they are the key to the objectivity of search engines (i.e. the algorithm ensures related results, and related results bring more users, which in turn brings more returns).

Although we do not know Google’s algorithm formula, we can certainly make a guess, and the result of our website ranking gives us some clue to this.  Main keywords, LSI keywords, text links to other relevant pages within the website, photos with keywords, backlinks, and relevant content play a key role in determining the position of your website in your top Google ranking placement strategies.

A complex mathematical formula used by search engines to assess the relevance and importance of websites and rank them accordingly in their search results. These algorithms are kept tightly under wraps as they are the key to the objectivity of search engines (i.e. the algorithm ensures relevant results, and relevant results bring more users, which in turn brings more advertising revenue).

How To Get A Top Google Ranking

When you are optimizing your website to get a top Google ranking, you have to be patient. Most webmasters are very eager when it comes to optimizing their website for a first page ranking on Google and they go overboard with the use of keywords. If you do this wrongly, not only will you not get a high Google ranking, but you may also end up getting banned from their list.

Getting a top Google ranking may be your dream but you need to understand the keyword density for each of your article. The calculation for keyword density is critical. As a rule of thumb the keywords used should not be more than 5 % of your article. This to me makes perfect sense. Imagine reading an article with so many of the same words being repeated. It turns the readers off and is not good for your marketing. A naturally written article attracts more readers who would likely read to the end of the article before they decide to buy whatever it is that you are selling.

There are many tools that you can use to assist you in getting a top Google ranking. Without a doubt, the most essential of all is Google Keyword Tool, a free web-based tool to help you find the right keywords and the number of searches made for that keyword in a 12 month period so that you can use the information to optimize your articles for a top rank in Google. There are also several paid keyword software tools that you can purchase but I find the free Google Keyword Tool is a great tool to start with before you progress to other multiple use software tools.

Original and informative content is what Google and the other search engines value highly. Why would they want to publish something that has already been written by someone else before. The search engines are providing a service to the mass public on finding information and the more original and informative your information is with the right amount of targeted keywords, the higher is your chances of getting a top Google ranking.

Besides articles and information, your website has got to look like a normal website and not a sales page with just good copywriting. A normal website has the “about me” page, your contact details, privacy statement, categories, and pages. The more pages you have with the right keyword density, the more the search engines will love your website because they love content. The search spiders eat your content and will push you up the Google ranking if they love eating what you have to offer.

Once the spiders have crawled and you are listed by the search engines, you will need to optimize your site even further. Usually, you won’t rank on Google’s first page on the first crawl. Fine tune your articles with keyword density and build backlinks to your website. Backlinks that point back to your website are extremely valuable because it shows that your website is popular. You can build backlinks by marketing articles with your hyperlink in the resource box, joining forum sites and doing some social bookmarking on popular platforms such as Facebook, Digg and Twitter.

Why A Top Google Ranking Website Will Determine Your Success

For every business entity that exists today, there is a website that goes along with it. Having a website is like advertising your business in the yellow pages of yesteryears. A top Google ranking website lets you reach potential customers and pre-sells your products and services. What is the price of not having a website in today’s business context? Seriously, a lot. It is something that no business can do without.

When previously we visit a travel agent to purchase our plane tickets, today we do it at a click of a mouse on our home computer from service providers such as priceline.com and at a cheaper price too. In some cases, we can even choose our preferred seats and our in-flight meals. We used to book our hotel rooms from travel agents too but now when can do it directly from the hotel website or from discount wholesalers such as hotel.com. The business gameplan has changed. Today, business is conducted at the speed of thought.

Unless you are a big entity that everyone knows about such as American Airlines, Citibank, or Amazon, letting your customers find you in the crowded world wide web can be complicated. Firstly, you need to understand the surfing habits of people looking for information. Surfers hardly go beyond the first page of a search engine and even if they do click on your link to view you site, you generally have about 7 seconds to engage them before they leave. Unless you are very good at copywriting and designing web pages, I suggest you outsource this task to people who are experts in this field, and there are plenty of them around.

Besides the importance of having a top Google ranking or having a top 3 positions in the generic search result of the search engines, there are also other ways of letting your customers reach you. If you own a specialist store for wines for example, you can distribute flyers to your customers and let them know where you can be found in cyberspace. You can even collect email addresses of your customers and start sending ezines and updates on your products and services to them. The idea is not to sell to everyone, but to a select group of people who has shown and interest in your business and keep selling to them. The fact that your customers visited your store pre-qualifies them.

This article is to establish that if you need to survive in today’s business environment, a website is an essential instrument to reach to your customers. If your are building a new customer base based on your presence in cyberspace, than having a top Google ranking or a first page ranking in the other search engines is your priority task. However, you can also take advantage of your current customers who visit your store and build a relation with them through newsletters with a link to your site. In any case, in this digital age, you need to reach out to your customers and offer greater convenience and value through the world wide web.

Sites which get a ranking close to the top in their niches are likely to possess excellent keywords and phrases located through the entire web site, but that is only one component of this formula. The very best websites also have a lot extra going for them, such as outstanding content, great meta data in addition to a good number of inward bound links all relative to the material on the webpage. Sites which might be new and are only starting must target acquiring incoming links. This is part of what exactly Google uses to rank sites within search results.

Back link building is an continuing process in Search engine optimization. Links to your website from other sites gives Google bots more “food” to munch on. Link popularity refers to the number of back links a web site obtains coming from outside sites but does not take into consideration the actual level of quality along with context of inbound links. 7 Life Changing Lessons Learned From Walt Disney

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was a film producer, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, international icon, and philanthropist.

Walt is well-known for his influence in the entertainment industry during the twentieth century. Walt co-founded Walt Disney Productions with his brother Roy O. Disney and became one of the most famous motion picture producers of all time.

The company that he co-founded is now known as “The Walt Disney Company” and has annual revenues of approximately $35 Billion (US).

Walt and members of his staff created a number of the world’s most famous fictional characters. This includes Mickey Mouse, whose original voice was Walt himself.

Walt has won 26 Academy Awards and he has earned 59 nominations; he has more awards and nominations than any other individual. Additionally, Walt has won seven Emmy Awards, and he is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, China, Japan, and France.

Clearly there is a ton to learn from Walt Disney. Let’s take a look at 7 Life-Changing Lessons from Walt Disney:

  1. Keep Things in Perspective

“A man should never neglect his family for business.”

Your family is your first business, and they should never be neglected in pursuit of “a dream.” Your family must be part of your dream, and should remain within your focus. Never become so consumed in business affairs that you neglect the individuals whom you need most.

  2. Competition is Good

“I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.”

Competition makes you stronger, it makes you better, it keeps you on your toes. Never shrink away from competition; never fail to see the value of competition. Your competitors can provide you with more value than your friends. Learn from the competition, and you will grow.

It’s critical that you embrace competition as well as adversity, Walt Disney said, “All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”

  3. Do What You Love

“Disneyland is a work of love. We didn’t go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money.”

You must follow your passion, if you’re doing it just for the money, it probably won’t last. Passion is what gives you the strength to overcome the obstacles associated with every dream. Passion is what keeps you going when everyone else is tired…money can’t do that for you, only passion; passion is power.

  4. Do the Impossible

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Life is too short to spend it doing the possible. Learn to pursue the impossible, pursue what others say can’t be done, pursue what has never been done before, pursue your dreams, and turn them into a reality.

You must believe in the beauty of your dreams. Walt said, “When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.” If you’re going to believe, you might as well believe all the way.

  5. Action Always Trumps Inaction

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”

I always say that “well done” is better than “well said,” so quit talking and start doing! Quit planning and start practicing; a plan is good, a good plan is even better, but if that plan doesn’t get put into action it’s as useless as a four fingered glove. Learn to get into action, start today, whatever you’ve been postponing …just do it. If you wait for the perfect time, you’ll never accomplish anything.

  6. It Takes a Village

“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.”

Isaiah wrote, “Without a vision, the people perish.” But I think it’s worth noting that without people, the vision will perish. Never forget that you need people; never forget that your life is about serving others. When you serve others, you serve yourself.

  7. Get Better Daily

“Whenever I go on a ride, I’m always thinking of what’s wrong with the thing and how it can be improved.”

Everyday you should become a little better than you were the day before. If you can become one percent better daily, you can recreate your life every 100 days. Learn to get better daily; look for ways to improve, to be kinder, more intelligent, and more helpful.

In Closing
Let us remember that Walt Disney said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

2010 Trends for Search Engine Marketing Consulting

2009 year may have seen the rise of social bookmarking and social media marketing but optimized websites continue to dominate search engine rankings albeit with a few twists.
Internet marketing experts with a keen eye for significant changes in Internet behaviour list the following trends that business consultants, including search engine marketing consulting professionals, must be aware of:

Personalized content

Unique, original and fresh content still rules search engine marketing. But with the volume of web content growing, Internet users are now looking for more relevant and personalized search results such as geo-location, date of publication and social media content.

In order to master this, constant testing of content, keywords and links that are focused on a niche market should form part of your SEO strategy. Use the latest keyword research tools and update web content regularly to test keywords.

Landing page

While blogs remain a tool for improving search engine rankings or introducing new products, it is the landing page that continues to convert visitors into buyers and clients for this year.

A landing page is a single page website or a mini site that contains a call to action for a site visitor to buy, sign up or perform any other desired activity. A good conversion strategy is to develop killer landing page content, test it and keep it if it yields positive results.

Video promotions

Videos continue to be popular among Internet users because of their ability to convey messages faster than text-based content. Adding and viewing videos has also become easy with sites like YouTube and other advanced applications. Increase search rankings by adding relevant videos to your site.

Email marketing

While not strictly speaking a search engine marketing tool, email marketing remains significant because:

* email communication is inexpensive

* consumers still consider email as their primary form of communication

* Email providers beefed up their systems with features like bigger storage space, autoresponders, email filters and integrated social media options

Add opt-in boxes and subscription options to websites to build an email database.

Other trends to take advantage of are:

* content nesting or displaying similar content on a single webpage,

* mobile marketing

* social network marketing in sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and

* price promos such as discounts, coupons and cost savings

Internet trends change constantly but should not be a reason for search engine marketing consulting professionals to jump on any bandwagon without first conducting tests. Review your strategy and retain what works while making modifications in areas that are adversely affected by emerging trends.

How Much is a Top Google Ranking Worth ?

Yours business could use highly targeted traffic 24 hours a day.

Imagine what would happen to your business if regardless of day or night, each time someone enters a search term to look for products or services for your type of business, you rank at the top of the search results.

A top Google ranking site gets around 8.5 times more traffic than the website that is ranked at no. 5.  This means that if you are at no. 5 and receives 5,000 unique visitors a month, then if you are ranked at no. 1, you would be getting 42,000 unique visitors a month.  Imagine what that could do to your business.

A top Google ranking, at no. 1 spot, is a walking billboard for your business and you are not paying anything for that prime real estate.  It sells for you 24/7, 365 days a year.  How is that for free advertising?
